Simon Armitage has published nine volumes of poetry, most recently The Universal Home Doctor and Travelling Songs (Faber). He also writes for radio, television and film, is the author of four stage plays, including Mister Heracles, as well as two novels, Little Green Man and The White Stuff (both Penguin).

Joolz Denby has published four collections of poetry, and in 1998 won the CWA New Crime Writer Award her first novel Stone Baby (HarperCollins). Her third novel Billie Morgan due out from Serpents Tale in November.

Janet Fisher is a co-editor at Huddersfield’s Poetry Business. She has published two collections: Listening to Dancing (1996) and Women who Dye their Hair (2001).

Sophie Hannah is a poet and novelist. Her latest collection, First of the Last Chances (Carcanet) was one of the 20 books chosen for the Next Generation poetry promotion. Her most recent novel is The Superpower of Love (Arrow).

Char March has three collections of poetry to her name, most recently Deadly Sensitive (Grassroots), as well as several plays.

Andrea Semple is 28 and the author of two novels, The Ex-Factor and The Make-Up Girl (Piatkus).
