Naomi Wood Wins BBC National Short Story Award 2023

Bestselling author Naomi Wood has won the BBC National Short Story Award with ‘Comorbidities’ from her debut collection.

The story tells the tale of a couple with young children deciding it's time to revive their flagging sex life. You can listen to an excerpt from the story here.

Wood rose above tough competition from Cherise Saywell, Nick Mulgrew, K Patrick, and Comma collaborator Kamila Shamsie to claim this year's top spot.

Wood was honoured alongside the other shortlisted authors during a prestigious ceremony at BBC headquarters last night.
